One of the most viewed youtube clips of American comedian Louis CK is from two years ago when he appeared on Conan. In the clip, titled ‘everything is amazing and nobody’s happy’ Louis points out how quickly people can find something wrong with modern miracles such as flight and mobile internet. It’s a hilarious insight as I always have found myself cursing my 3G without ever stopping to think, “Holy Steve Jobs i’m actually surfing the internet whilst driving on a highway in rural Australia, and all I can do is complain about how slow this page is loading?!!”
Which is where Twantrum comes in. Based on the insight that consumers are easily outraged at the slightest corporate indiscretions or miss-service and are quick to vent on twitter, Twantrum collates the best of brand directed Twitter rage. Often these tweets are made in the heat of corporate frustration and look really embarrassing in hindsight, all the more hilarious when those tweets are collated together with other, similarly frustrated venters.
Created by Australian digital expats James Aviaz and Julian Cole along with Sydney digital native Rhys Edwards, Twantrum monitors brand rage on twitter and then ranks it from mild to Mel Gibson.
Some may see this site as a great way for community managers to finally get some retribution for years of restraint without losing face in front of consumers, others, such as creator James Aviaz are simply “enjoying it for the LOLs”.
