Turn your iPad into a digital notepad for around $10

I’ve been trying to figure out how I can turn my ipad into a useful work “digital notepad.” I have three simple points I need a solution for if I am going to start changing my habits and drop my paper notebook: – mind maps
– note taking
– document reading
– all in the cloud / accessible in my desktop

Well, I did some digging (is there a problem with hundreds and thousands of apps? Yes. Finding what you want.) and managed to find 4 apps that will make the basis of my brand new digital notepad.

1. Evernote for iPad – cloud based note taker, and note manager. This is the basis of the notepad. It’s a growing cloud service, so you can bet it will have improved features in the near future.

2. Dropbox for iPad – sync a folder on your computer to cloud, and to other PC’s. Perfect for doing some reading on the move, or storing files that are not just notes. Again, a growing cloud service with new features surely on the way.

3. Mindo – a brilliant mind mapping app that looks as good as it performs. Email your mind map as text + image with tags, so that its searchable as well as viewable as a mind map again. And if you have the attachment, you can even project it! http://www.laterhorse.com/mindo/

4. Calc XT – Need a calculator super quick? With a notepad for tracking a few quick numbers? Calc XT is a big calculator with an attached notepad. What would any digital notepad be without a free-draw tool for drawing circles and arrows… http://www.waterworld.com.hk/ipad_calc_xt And there you have it – a brand spanking new digital notepad, synced with the cloud, searchable, and ready to rock out in any of the big important meetings you might have soon. All for around $10. Plus the iPad itself, of course…
