Facebook are planning to allow pages to segment their followers by various criteria then communicate to that segmented audience with posts specifically written for them.
Currently page owners can only segment and communicate with their audience split by location and language, however new options will allow much greater segmentation across areas such as;
– Age
– Gender
– Relationship Status
– Education
– Workplace
Targeted posts written specifically for a segmented group can expect to see click-through-rates of 8% compared to 3% for posts sent to an unsegmented audience (source Hubspot)
Users who do not fall into a segment created by the page owner can still see posts ‘not meant for them’ on the pages timeline.
