The Opera Australia Season 2011 brochure will be the first in the country to feature augmented reality technology, allowing readers to see 3D elements, a video feed and hear audio via a web cam trigger as they browse the physical pamphlet. AR content is available for the front cover and some featured Sydney and Melbourne production pages. Readers will need to be connected to the Opera Australia site and have a webcam to access the additional sound and performance footage content, which will appear to hover before their eyes.

Opera Australia Marketing and Communication Director Liz Nield says the AR capabilities merge well with the drama and music of opera and make the brochure more engaging for opera fans. This is the first instance of AR use by an Australian arts company. The brochure will be available from 20 August, requests can be made by calling 02 9318 8200 or 03 9685 3700.
