I guess Windows is such an loose architecture for running programs, compared to sealed systems such as the iPhone, that it will always require a DRM/wrapper framework to distribute apps. I am interested that Microsoft have never explored this route – at least so we don’t all have to learn yet another SDK!

And now Microsoft are suing Apple for trying to trademark the general term “App Store”!
