Don’t be fooled by the Bieber stats (“Justin Bieber is one of top two-word phrases and top name in user’s bios”), it seems that Tweeters are becoming more sophisticated in their use of the social platform.

According to sysomos more users are filling out their bios to distinguish themselves from bots, providing more detailed names to make their interests clear and searchable, providing their location and providing a url where they can be found outside the Twitterverse.

Users also have more friends than a year ago

When we looked at the granular level, we found that number of users with up to 5 friends has decreased considerably from 37% to 21%, and those with more than 100 friends has increased by three-fold to 21%. Twitter users are consuming more updates and perhaps following more people outside their friends circle. This is a significant change from last year.
