Now you can really virtually shop online while you’re actually shopping, dawg!

LIKE the dozens of shoppers that came before her, Emily Tran is clutching an iPhone as she walks past the Sportsgirl store on Chapel Street in Melbourne, which is closed for renovation.

Some are too busy texting to notice that the two giant billboards that cover the windows are themselves a virtual shop, where people can purchase products with their iPhone, without having to go in.

Sportsgirl’s so-called Window Shop is the first of many interactive shopping billboards the clothing retailer plans to erect in various locations – from shopping centres to train stations – around the country in the coming weeks and months.

The billboards feature images of key fashion items that consumers can purchase by scanning the item’s barcode with their iPhone. The QR (quick response) code takes the shopper directly to the Sportsgirl mobile store, where they can buy the item with a click of a button and have it delivered to their home.
