Chirp.io have created an app that uses old-school modem sounds to communicate device-to-device using nothing but air. No WIFI, Bluetooth needed, just a relatively quiet space – that rules out our office!
They’re currently using this to transmit “QR code” style shortlinks to assets which have already been uploaded to their cloud. But I could see this having far wider applications – such as extending the Internet of Things to places where networks dare to tread.
