SEEK.com.au fantasy redesign

SEEK re-designed

I thought SEEK.com.au could use a refresh…so I just went ahead and designed/built it…

http://deependmelbourne.com.au/demo/seek/seek_ALL.html

(chrome only)

disclaimer: this is a front-end prototype only and doesn’t have all the bells and whistles I would imagine the final product would have. Oh, and I only tested in Chrome – Firefox screws up some of the animations (which I could fix but whatever…just use Chrome).

There are a bunch of cool features including:

  • Seamless user flow from initial search right through to application – all on one “page.
  • Animating search box.
    • When you search, the circle search box animates into a rounded rectangle…pretty cool.
    • And back again when you click on the logo.
  • More search options slide down/up.
    • Fast, easy and more engaging than the current live version of the SEEK advanced search option.
  • Search results more options (the pink plus in the bottom right hand corner) – just looks nice.
  • Streamlined application through lightbox.

Overall

There are heaps of elements I would build in on top of what’s already there…and, of course, I would make it work smoothly in Firefox, IE and all the other browsers.

In all, about 25 hours design and 40 hours development produced this new SEEK demo site.

  1. Hi Christian,

Just wanted to say: awesome work! The design is fresh and compelling and there are some really great ideas in there. I know a thing or two about the SEEK website myself, both its strengths and limitations … and I’d be more than happy to discuss it with you further if you like 😉

    Cheers,

  2. Hey Michael!

Thanks very much for the kind words – kind of a bit chuffed with myself right about now.

Cool – would be great to chat about stuff – should I just call the public SEEK number?

    Christian.

  3. Hi Christian,

You should have my email, but if not just call the front desk and they’ll put you in touch with me 🙂

    Cheers,
    Mike
