Not all brands are identical when it comes to sizes and styles, so for now most customers feel safer trying the clothes on in-store before buying. In terms of online purchasing, the hesitation around fit has led to cart abandonment rates of 70%, and even after customers checkout, 60% of all returns are due to fit issues.
Clothes Horse is trying to change all that – it is essentially a widget that can embed into e-commerce sites. It learns about a customer’s preferences on fit through a series of questions and purchase behaviour.
In an early test on Bonobos.com, the system has driven a 13% sales boost. Impressive.
