3D Printing With Junk

Kodjo Afate Gnikou is an African inventor who is 3D printing a little differently – he is using junk. Think old scanner belts and other pieces of e-waste, he has managed to bring these parts together and build a fully functioning 3D printer.

3D printing is without a doubt a fast-growing trend and changing the manufacturing industry radically. Memeburn recently predicted 3D printing to be the biggest tech trend to hit us by 2020, stating that “By 2018, 3D printing will result in the loss of at least US$100-billion per year in intellectual property globally.” What’s more is that it’s not just large corporations and digital agencies using them, 3D printing is quickly becoming more accessible to every-day individuals with printers costing as little as $100.
